George Swinnerton Parker (young)

George Swinnerton Parker started his game business, ⌞Geo. S. Parker & Co.⌟, in 1883 at the age of 16. (Image source: WorldCamelotFederation.com)

The company's name became ⌞Parker Brothers⌟ in 1888 when George's brother, Charles, joined the company. In 1898, brother Edward joined Parker Brothers.

On 12 December 1901, the company became ⌞Parker Brothers, Incorporated.

General Mills acquired ⌞Parker Brothers, Inc in February 1968. The General Mills name never appeared on Parker Brothers catalogs.

In November 1985(subscription), General Mills merged its Parker Brothers and Kenner subsidiaries into the spin-off company, ⌞Kenner Parker Toys⌟.

Tonka Corporation acquired ⌞Kenner Parker Toys on 4 September 1987(subscription) for $612 million.

On 7 May 1991, Hasbro paid $516 million to acquire Tonka Corporation, including the Parker Brothers subsidiary, though the Hasbro name did not appear on Parker Brothers trade catalogs until 1996.

Hasbro retired the Parker Brothers brand and closed Parker Brothers facilities in Salem, Massachusetts in 2009.

In 2003, AGPI member Phil Orbanes authored the definitive book about Parker Brothers • The Game Makers: The Story of Parker Brothers from Tiddledy Winks to Trivial Pursuit. Cambridge, Massachusetts: Harvard Business Review Press. © 2003. ISBN-13 978-1591392699. Available on Amazon, Abebooks, and Archive.org.

The list below includes Geo. S. Parker & Co. and Parker Brothers (Inc.) trade catalogs, product price lists, and order lists for most years from 1885 to 1997 from multiple Internet sources and AGPI members.

Many of the Parker Brothers catalogs in The Strong's collection were donated to them in 2007 by the AGPC, as we were known at the time.

Metadata (titles, number of pages, completeness, sources for dates, etc.) is included for each catalog. In a few cases, the date for a publication given by the organization providing a digitized item is believed to be incorrect, and is so noted.

This web page is a work in progress. Links to searchable PDFs of all listed Parker Brothers' trade catalogs are being added to this web page. Some links are to PDFs posted on AGPI websites; other links are to PDF viewers on other websites (notably, at The Strong Museum of Play).

Big file alert! The size of a provided PDF file for each individual catalog varies based on the number of sides in the catalog and the ability to compress the PDF without substantially reducing readability and resolution. Most provided PDF files range in size in the tens of megabytes, hence requiring an Internet connection with moderately high bandwidth. However, provided PDF files may sometimes be smaller than tens of megabytes, and sometimes larger.
